Daily Devotional September 3, 2018

This morning as I sat here with my thoughts on what to do on this beautiful Labor day, a verse popped into my mind:

Psalms 118:24

This is the day which the Lord hath made;
we will rejoice and be glad in it.

I remember a song we used to sing in my church:

This is the day
This is the day that the Lord hath made
I will rejoice
I will rejoice and be glad in it
This is the day that the Lord has made
I will rejoice and be glad in it
This is the day
This is the day that the Lord has made

A couple of thoughts came to me about this verse

1.  We are only promised this day.

Yesterday has come and gone.  Tomorrow we are never promised so all we have is today.

For those who want to live in your past, it is unfortunate because all we can do with our past is learn from it and use it to be better today.

Live today like it is the only day you have.

2.  No matter what happens today, it is still the day you have been given and you might as well rejoice and be glad in it.

You have a choice to be discouraged and sad or to be joyful and happy.

One of the fruit of the spirit is joy.  The thing is that in life troubles happen to all of us, but when we walk in the Spirit, Helps us to have a peace and joy that we don't understand.

Paul the Apostle instructs us:

1Th 5:18
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

So, no matter what today may bring either blessings or trials, thank God.  It is easy to thank God for the blessings, it is a harder thing to thank God for your trials.  However, beyond every trial there is a blessing.

Thank you God for this day you have given to me.  No matter what comes my way today, I will thank you and use it for your glory and your honor.
